After sitting on the Dallas runway for 2 1/2 hours because of a lightening storm we finaly arrive in Savannah around 2 am on May 15. We got up that morning and headed to Tybee Island. Our first stop was the Tybee Lighthouse that was built in 1773. It is still a workin lighthouse. We walked up its 178 steps. The view was breathtaking.
Then we toured the museum and Fort Pulaski national monument that was completed in 1847 and was defended bythe Confederate Ary as Union forces fired cannons from Tybee.
Then down to the ocean. Now Jerry and I can state that we both have stood in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.
